
Hawks Even The Series In OT

JJ Sparling was the hero at 4:56 of the first overtime period , on a beautiful pass from Jacob Patterson to lead the Mitchell Hawks to a 4-3 ot win over the Hanover Barons and even the Western Jr C Semi-Final Series at 2-2.
Jared Carr tied the game early in the first after Hanover opened the scoring on the pp. Tyler Van Drunen scored to put the Hawks up 2-1 after one. Then 41 seconds in Brent Feltz got credited with a goal , that at Hanover defenseman shot in off of Dave Clement. Then Rob Hellyer scored for Hanover on a breakaway to make it 3-2 at the second intermission. Hanover came out flying in the third tying the game 4:31 mark on a goal by Steven Hillier, but Mitchell survived the onslaught, with some big saves by Josh Nurse. Those key saves set the stag for the ot winner by the underdog Hawks , JJ Sparling. Mitchell outshot Hanover 50-38, as this set the stag for game 5 in Durham , saturday night at 830pm, as the Hawks continue to play good hockey .
