
FORMER HAWKS GETS NHL EMPLOYMENT

Mitchell Hawks alumni and organization would like to congratulate there former player Kendrick Nicholson , on receiving a full time contract in the NHL as an official wearing the bands this coming 2016-17 season , and fittingly the Hawks 50th Anniversary year.
Nicholson 33, the Milverton native was one of two officials signed by the NHL over the summer to join the staff, the other was Garrett Rank, of Elmira.
Nicholson, the former Western Jr C official , did his first NHL game Jan 17, in Ottawa vs Carolina, working along side veteran official Paul Devorski, .
Kendrick got his start as a linesman in 2003 , working the 2008 Memorial Cup , and the 2009 World Under 18s. Started the Orange Bands ,after that , and moved to refereeing full time , He has refereed two OHL finals, the 2013 Memorial Cup , and the 2014 World Under 18, and also the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland.
He spent the past season , working some NHL and mostly AHL hockey full time.
